Acacia Engineering provided full NECB 2017 Part 8 Performance Path energy modeling for the new Wild Rose 2 Wind Farm Operations & Maintenance facility, an industrial building combining warehouse and two-storey office functions. Using advanced simulation tools (HAP 5.11), our team assessed the proposed design against NECB reference standards to optimize envelope performance, lighting efficiency, and HVAC systems.
The final design surpassed the NECB reference model, achieving a total energy-use reduction of nearly 40%. Key improvements included enhanced slab insulation (R-34), optimized lighting systems with advanced controls, and high-efficiency air-source heat pumps (up to 19.5 SEER). Heat recovery ventilation systems further boosted efficiency and comfort.
Overall, the building achieved an impressive Energy Use Intensity (EUI) of 136.3 kWh/m²-year, down from 224.1 kWh/m²-year in the baseline model.
