Our team worked collaboratively with both the Paddle Prairie and Elizabeth Métis Settlements to deliver comprehensive residential energy assessments and building condition evaluations across nearly 290 homes. These initiatives aimed to improve housing performance, support retrofit planning, and align with community sustainability and funding goals under the EnerGuide Version 15 Rating System and CMHC retrofit standards.
Scope of Work:
• Conducted complete EnerGuide assessments for each home, evaluating key components such as exterior walls, attics, vaulted ceilings, windows, basement walls, crawlspaces, heating and ventilation systems, domestic hot water systems, lighting, and appliances.
• Performed blower door and depressurization tests on all units to determine Air Changes per Hour (ACH) at 50 Pa, ensuring accurate measurement of building air tightness and envelope performance.
• Completed detailed Building Condition Assessments to identify repair needs, structural issues, and opportunities for energy upgrades.
• Provided tailored upgrade recommendations to meet CMHC retrofit targets, enhance energy efficiency, and support funding applications.
• Conducted energy simulations to analyze retrofit strategies including:
– Greenhouse gas emissions reduction scenarios
– Long-term operational cost implications
– Electrification feasibility and regional energy grid considerations
– Deep retrofit pathways such as re-roofing, foundation insulation, and envelope upgrades
Through these projects, both the Paddle Prairie and Elizabeth Métis communities received a strategic, data-driven roadmap to enhance housing quality, lower energy consumption, and increase long-term resilience. The work enabled prioritization of cost-effective, high-impact retrofit solutions that align with community goals for sustainable development and improved living standards.
